About the brand
Dublin Airport is the largest airport in Ireland, serving over 30 million passengers in 2019. Dublin Airport recently began a €2 billion capital investment programme to ensure the airport meets projected passenger demand and expectations.
This includes a review and re-development of the four common use lounges that Dublin Airport operate. Lounge utilisation is experiencing a significant period of growth due, linked to an increase in passenger awareness. There has also been an expansion in the ways in which passengers can access airport lounges with a growth in priority pass and credit card access.
The Challenge/Task
Pragma were asked by Dublin Airport to understand and assess the space requirements for Dublin Airport’s common use lounges based on the current and future passenger profile and industry trends.
WHAT WE DID
Pragma worked closely with the Dublin Airport travel services team to identify the space requirements for Dublin Airport’s common use lounges based on:
Evaluation of the current passenger profile and lounge behaviour including the identification of key lounge users and their requirements
Evaluation of existing lounge offer – including space, trading data, access modes and commercial layout to understand the current space requirements
Global benchmarking to evaluate the space provision of Dublin Airport’s common use lounges against peer and competitor airports
Identification of key lounge trends and global best practices to understand the implications for Dublin Airport
Evaluation of the commercial and space potential by building a bespoke and inter-active space supportable model to understand the space requirements for common use lounge broken down by a high level space segmentation
The Result
The Dublin Airport travel services team evaluated Pragma’s space recommendations based on the space supportable model, giving Dublin Airport the knowledge and confidence to move onto the next stage of the lounge re-development project.
