Paphos International Airport - Commercial Planning
About the brand
Paphos International Airport (PFO) is a seasonal airport, located on the south-east corner of Cyprus, with a large proportion of holiday-going passengers.
With passenger volumes forecast to grow, the Commercial Team is key in ensuring that growth can be accommodated in a pleasant and profitable way.
Pragma has an established relationship with HAL (Hermes Airports Limited), having engaged in a commercial plan for both Larnaca and Paphos International Airports in 2017.
The Challenge/Task
Pragma was commissioned by HAL to assist with the redevelopment of Paphos International Airport by evaluating the existing commercial performance & space guidelines for duty free, speciality retail, and F&B to enhance the passenger experience and optimise the airport’s commercial performance.
WHAT WE DID
Explored the current commercial provision at both Paphos and Larnaca Airports to develop an understanding of the current challenges and opportunities as well as any learnings from the prior redevelopment of Larnaca Airport
Evaluated the commercial and financial trends of the airport, including the airport plan, to identify the commercial potential and any drivers for each of the core commercial categories
Evaluated the current and forecast passenger volumes and trends to understand the passenger profile, spend behaviour, key consumer segments, and their requirements, and how these will change over time
Reviewed the current commercial trends for both the airport and downtown developments to assess the impact of trends on space and the commercial mix of tenants or categories
Updated the commercial space supportable model for the core categories and sub-categories using the understandings from the above work stages in order to determine the optimum space for the design year
The Result
Our work provided HAL with the optimum space requirements for Paphos Airport to support the forecast passenger volumes for the given design year, as well as the recommended commercial mix of the core categories and sub-categories to compliment the passenger profile, local and global trends, and future commercial performance.
